Dog in Action: A Study of Anatomy and Locomotion As Applying to All Breeds
Published in Paperback by Dogwise Publishing (September, 2002)
Authors: McDowell Lyon and Josephine Z. Rine
Average review score:

Great book
I first saw this book when my friend brought over a library copy. I didn't have time to read it, but I read the chapter on single tracking.

Let me explain. I'm an engineer. And conformation vs. performance as always been a hobby of mine. Mostly for horses. I always wondered why horses single track. Now I know. Based on that chapter I scoured the used book market until I found my own copy. I found this book to be thought provoking and credible. I bought a copy for a friend of mine who is a professor at one of our state universities and who heads up the collage's judging team (horses again).

I found that by studying dogs, whose conformation could be much more diverse than horses, I could better understand how more subtle conformation differences affect the horse. I will never give up my copy. They will have to pry it from my cold dead fingers.

Figures in a Landscape: The Life and Times of the American Painter, Ross Moffett, 1888-1971/Limited Edition
Published in Hardcover by Josephine Couch Del Deo (May, 1994)
Authors: Josephine Couch Del Deo and Ross Moffett
Average review score:

An artist views a provincetown of another time.
The writer has not only given us a wonderful understanding of the creative and emotional eye of Ross Moffett, but a discriptive insight of the Provincetown at the time of the outstanding realists and impressionists whose work will forever help us reconstuct the unique New England Cape Cod. It was indeed a breeding ground for artists of many expressions and its legacy will remain. Joesephine Del Deo has written a bit of charming New England history.

Foundations of Organic Chemistry (Oxford Chemistry Primers, No 9)
Published in Paperback by Oxford University Press (March, 1993)
Authors: Michael Hornby and Josephine M. Peach
Average review score:

Recommend for students struggling with organic chemistry.
This primer concisely lays down the basic concepts required for a thorough understanding of organic chemistry, including those physical ones. Each concept is explained clearly and carefully with analogies and examples where necessary. There is a particular emphasis on identifying the common mechanistic themes between reactions, rather than the chemical differences between homologus series, as found in standard texts.

I would recommend this book to interested A-level (pre-university) and university students, especially those having difficulty in appreciating that organic chemistry is more than a wide array of unconnected reactions.

An authorative book on feline disorders and disease, with *up to date* information. Many photographs and illustrations aid in the many explanations, the language is clear and conscice and fairly easy to understand for even a person without a medical background. I have read many veterinary handbooks and journals and this would be my choice if I could only have a few in my collection. The book is split up into 23 chapters, and range from behavioural problems, multiple feline husbandry practice, toxicology, and infectious diseases...As a cat breeder, I find this book invaluable and I would highly recommend it to anyone! A must read for anyone with stress in their life
This book contains deep commentary on humanity's low level of awareness that touched me immensely, but it is also quite simply a manual for practical methods of stress reduction. When I actually manage to overcome my laziness and practice the exercises Baines suggests, my whole perspective on life becomes more positive and relaxed and I begin to succeed in areas I never believed I could.

I Follow After; An Autobiography
Published in Paperback by South Asia Books (01 January, 1999)
Authors: Lakshmibai Tilak and E. Josephine Inkster
Average review score:

Excellent
This is an autobiography which without being anything sensational, is actually very inspiring. The author who is the wife of a poet, and is brought up in a traditional Hindu setting with its ritualistic taboos, describes her life. She gets married to the poet Narayan Waman Tilak and inspite of all their troubles: financial, social and also religious (conversion to Christianity), they surmount over it, and in the end come out happy and satisfied. What comes out very nicely is the enduring love between the author and her husband inspite of their often serious differences. Their kind hearts which led them to adopt homeless children and provide selfless service to plague victims is inspiring. It shows that when one has faith and the heart is kind, no matter what the material difficulties, they can be surmounted. This book also gives one a very good idea of the social situation in early twentieth century india. Definitely a classic.
